México is host to about 1,000 species of birds,
of 9,000 existing in the world. In these pages you will find data and pictures
on over 70% of them, from the collection at the Museum of Mexican birds

Aquila chrysaetos/Golden Eagle/águila real
The Aztecs built Tenochtitlán in the site where they found a Golden
Eagle eating a snake, atop a cactus tree. This image is the symbol of México
and the majestic bird its national symbol, not the crested caracara, as
some believe.
The MUSAVE is a not-for-profit organization that aims to
help the cause of wildlife conservation thru education about the birds and
their life. These pages are a volunteer effort done by friends of the birds
and the MUSAVE. Enjoy your visit and we hope to see you soon -- physically
-- here in sunny Saltillo! Please feel free to send your comments to our
web-footed master. Remember, English is not our native language.
